Since purchasing my first Japanese-English dictionary at the campus bookstore at Ohio University many years ago, I have been intrigued with the process of translating between the two languages. My Japanese studies continued at Washington University in St. Louis and Kyoto University, where I fell in love with translated fiction and developed skills in commercial translation. While recent technological advances may seem to make the job easier, there is still much work to be done for those who strive for polished translations. I hope you will join me in exploring how to achieve this goal in a variety of translation tasks.
